The temporary layout

As the tittle suggests  I have built a temporary layout as  I have a 2.5yr old and one on the way, I have decided it was the best option, I'm using a NCE powercab.  Using pretty much all 2nd had stuff and as its the 1st time for me its a good practise  for the real thing . The following  photos  show  how I did the wiring : droppers on every bit of track ( besides the points) and everything goes into terminal blocks for ease of diagnosing problems

My daughter running my powerline (2012) 48  she knows which buttons are for directions and the emergence stop button and I have the hand of god

this little layout isn't much but I have leant a lot and keeps me and my daughter happy for the moment  will probably chance it around a bit at a latter date as you can tell I was always gong to change it as the is no road bed

till next time

TCS KAT22

First and foremost  it's been over 16 months since my last post.  I have moved once and in the process of moving again. Baby number two is on the way....

About 9 months ago I bought a Austrains C36. I put a TCS DPX2 decoder in it and it wasn't a great runner soI left it and put up with it. 3 months later I brought 2 TCS KAT22 (with inbuilt keep alive) decoders  one for my C36 and C35,
a mate put it it in for me and also fitted one pick up per bogie (one picks up from the left one from the right -will fit all wheel pick ups latter). The difference in performance is amazing no longer do I have to run it very quickly, now it will just creep over dead frog points and everything and light will no longer flicker and it will only go about a inch with out power  so it my have a bind

Here is two views  of the 36 running. First video is on speed step 1 of 128 and the second video is on speed step 1 of 28

 Till next time

camden station and yard nsw

when i was a boy  i grew up near a little town called camden in nsw  i remember going to mac's  at narellan and they had alot of photos  of the camden branch line (sadly all the photos are gone when macs got a make over a few years ago) and this started a long  interest in finding out as much as i could about this branch line that ran from 10/3/1882 - 1/1/1963 in the latter years the coal loader at narellan  kept the line open  coal was trucked into narellan from  Burragorang Valley ( near the oaks)

there is very little left of the line  because of the F5 and the widening of  narellan  rd and the  the build up of houses but here is a few photos i found

so i have decided  to model  camden station and yard and narellan station and little yard as a branch on my layout the only  place on my layout to be  modeled on a real place    here is a drawing i did of the camden yard/station  i got my info from alot of photos but i still need  more  to get more of the yard and surrounding buildings

and narellan

Coming up with a name

I  wanted to come up with a name for the main town  which will be the name of the layout before i started  building the layout as well  a fictional place that  ment something so  i desided to look up aboriginal words and alot more googling  to see if any of the words were real towns in australia sadly alot of the names i came up with were but then i came across an  aboriginal word that means "good view" and desided 'warruga' is the name for my layout that will be set in a fictional town of nsw  and when i get to the point of a new section of the layout and new town i will look up aboriginal words   and come up with another fictional place  with meaning  but the layout will be named WARRUGA
